Soup from stones, and other miracles

Every year we start with a couple of ordinary-looking stones, and every year we manage to wind up with big pots of soup (the stones apparently having latent chicken noodle and vegetable beef properties) along with salads, breads and a table full of desserts.

How? Don’t ask, just give thanks for this season of miracles – and enjoy your soup.

Join us for worship at 10 a.m. and stick around for our annual Stone Soup lunch, Christmas Cookie Sale and Advent Workshop (simple, inexpensive Christmas crafts for kids of all ages), a fun and tasty time of fellowship that starts right after worship.

Meanwhile…

After weeks of Old Testament blood and gore, those who are following along in The Story get a treat in Chapter 9. The story of Ruth and Boaz – an outsider comes to the promised land and, with faith and kindness, brings out the best in those around her (and sets God’s errant people back on track. You go, Ruth.)

Pastor Jim will return to The Story in sermons after Christmas, but in the meantime you can still drop in to one of the weekly discussion groups (Sundays at 11 and Wednesdays at 7) and find other resources on The Story page.
